Yoga for Trauma Recovery
Exciting work is being done in the use of yoga as part of the overall healing process for trauma recovery.
Leanne has received training in Trauma Aware Yoga Teaching based on the work of the Trauma Centre, Justice Resource Institute, Boston USA and is under the mentorship of Australian yoga for PTSD specialist Shirley Hicks.
Trauma “sensitive’’ yoga aims to let participants have an experience in the body that can provide an antidote to the fight or flight stress response of the nervous system. The subsequent neural “rewiring’’ can help to relieve the chronic stress patterns experienced by people recovering from trauma.
